Dear Nikki,
I’m a senior and my parents don’t support me with what I want to do with my future. They won’t let me go to the college/university of my choice. They constantly tie me down and I don’t have the freedom to express myself either. I want to be free. What should I do?

Sincerely, Almost Disappointment

Dear Almost Disappointment,

Parents can be complicated to handle, part of you wants to make them proud and happy but the other part of you wants what makes you happy. If only there was a happy medium. Some parents have a plan for their children and where they will go in life and others just want their children to be successful and happy. I’m going to give you my honest opinion and advice that I follow every day of my life: you have one life to live and if you live your life always trying to please others, you won’t be happy. If you are doing what makes you happy, your parents should support you. You’re the one living your life, your parents aren’t living it for you. Do what makes you happy.
